A FIELD GUIDE TO ROOMIER LIVINGUK / 2026

RESEARCH / THE PRICE OF SPACEORIGINAL DATA

The price of space.

How much privacy, openness and useful land costs across Britain — measured, published and reproducible.

The Price of Space is our planned flagship study: a reproducible measurement of how buying budgets convert into experienced space — distance to neighbours, openness of surroundings, owned plot and the practical connection to daily life — across the areas we can verify.

We will publish it only when three things exist: licensed data with known coverage, computed metrics whose method is written down, and a reviewed cohort with stated denominators. A headline ranking built on incomplete feeds would be exactly the kind of claim this site exists to avoid.

METHODOLOGY COMMITMENT

What every published figure carries.

  • No figures are published yet; anything promising a national ranking today is making it up.
  • Coverage will be partial by design and stated honestly; areas without licensed data stay out.
  • Methods, vintages and downloadable aggregate data will ship alongside every published finding.

The pipeline, in one line.

Source observations → entity resolution → grounded relations → deterministic joins, geometry and temporal calculations → claims with versioned provenance and uncertainty → published report.
